GRANADA

Often when we think of a good destination to visit on our holidays we think of visiting a stranger country but in our country there are many beautiful places that we can visit. One is Granada.
Granada is located in Spain, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is the capital of one of the seven provinces that form it.

Granada is a city that receives a lot of tourism due to its monuments, its proximity to the ski resort of Sierra Nevada and the history of the city.
It is a city where there are many monuments to visit but best of Granada is walking the streets and enjoy the food.
If you visit Granada you need to visit the Alhambra and the Generalife. The Alhambra is the most visited monument in Spain. In 2012 visited the Alhambra 3million people. This monumental complex was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. The Alhambra is a walled city within the city of Granada which includes palaces, gardens, fountains and playgrounds along with stunning views.

It consists of several elements among which are:

  •         The citadel
  •          The Royal House
  •          The lions playground
  •         Comares Palace
  •          Palace of Charles V

If you do not want to stay without making your visit we advise you book your ticket in advance, as it maybe that when you get to the Alhambra there are no tickets available. We also recommend you bring comfortable shoes, camera and raring to go and investigate all corners of the monument.

Another interesting monument to visit is the Cathedral of Granada which was built by Isabel la Católica immediately after the conquest and the largest mosque in Granada, this temple is a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance.

If you visit Granada you must not miss the Plaza Nueva, is the oldest in Granada. All around are several important buildings such as the Chancery or House of Pisa. From this square if we take the Elvira street we start our walk towards the neighborhood of Albaycín.

The district of Albaycín is different from the rest of Granada. Has a Muslim air coming from the XI century when it was installed in this neighborhood the first Muslim court in Spain, the Zirid court. It is the perfect place to take a walk, sit in bars and discover beautiful places that are not in the tourist guides.
The Albaycín is a neighborhood to be lived.

Near the city of Granada is interesting to visit the Alpujarra:
La Alpujarra is a historic region that is divided between the provinces of Granada and Almeria. La Alpujarra Granadina is a region located in the province of Granada and consists of 25 municipalities: Almegíjar, Alpujarra de la Sierra, Bérchules, Bubión, Busquístar, Cádiar, Cáñar, Capileira, Carataunas, Cástaras, Juviles, Lanjarón, Lobras, Murtas, Nevada, Órgiva, Pampaneira, Pórtugos, Soportújar, La Taha, Torvizcón, Trevélez, Turón, Ugíjar. But the most important towns in La Alpujarra are:

The best activities to undertake in La Alpujarra include hiking and horse riding.

GASTRONOMY

Besides the charm of the city and its monuments, the best of Granada is its food. Do not miss the "quinto + tapa" typical of there. The typical food of Granada is influenced by Muslim.
Some of the Granada regional dishes are the beans with ham, pot of San Antón, the Andalusian gazpacho, kid with garlic and Tortilla Sacromonte. And in La Alpujarra it is typical Alpujarreño plate, alpujarreñas crumbs, the rusks of Pampaneira and the partridges of Lanjarón.

Rome

Hello!

We are going to talk about our experience in Rome.  Rome is the capital of Italy. This city is located in the middle of Italy, in Laci region near Tiber and 22 km far to the Mediterranean sea.

The weather in August, when we were in Rome, was very hot and it was sun. I needed an umbrela but it wasn't about raining, it was because there was very sun and hot and we needed shade.

The legend of Rome is very interesting, because is talking about the second civilation after Greeks. The legent talk to us  how the sons of Rea Silvia and Mart (god of war) were abandoned in river Tiber because Numitor, father of Real Silvia, was afraid because the "auguris" (birds who have the capacity of predict the future) told him that his grandsons will still his power. When Rea Silvia abandoned her sons, Romul and Rem, a wolf adopted and caring them. When they were adults they decide to create a new city: Rome. The "auguris" decided who govern the city because the power can't be distributed. The governant was Romul, and he killed his brother Rem.

First of all we want to explain our firts impresion we have got of Rome. There was a lot of places where people sold a lot of presents, souvenirs and gifts from there. This little places were located around the Colisseum. The colisseum is a very big construction situated in the middle of the city.  In this places was where the gladiators fighting to entertein people. Also this fights could be with gladiators with  beasts (lions and tigres).

Another place that enjoy us was the Fontana di Trevi. It is a giant fountain with statues of a carriage shaped shell and on this shell, in the middle there is a statue of the God of the ocean, Neptú, the left there is a statue which represent the abundance and the right statue represent the health.

The legend about this fountain is: If three people throw three coints back each one with their right hand over sholders they will come back, they will be lucky and they will sure a married or divorce and if two people throw two coints, one each one, they will start a new relaxionship.
We like doing traditions and legends therefore our families and us threw a coint each one.

triumphal arch
Triumphal arch are the most important building in Rome. When they had a military victory they build this buildings.

Another thing that surprised us was the quantity of pigeon in spaces.

The typical food in Rome is pasta, pizza and ice-cream. When we were in Rome we ate a lot of pasta with different sauces and toppings, and the best pizza we tasted ever!!! When we were walking around the street we found a lot of little places where we could buy oices of pizza. The pizzas were giant and they were exposed to the people who was in the street. All of ice-cream we tasted in Rome were delicious, but our favourite flavor was xocolat.

The people who we saw they were spontaneous, friendly and they wanted to you bought their products, even, you could bargaining because they wanted it a lot. In the queue I saw guides who did a route in Colisseum but they didn't working in this places, It wasn't a services of Colisseum. It's possible the Colisseum would had this services but this people bought the tickets and sold ones more cheeper and offer the guides sevices. It happened probably the Colisseum hadn't employed or this people wanted all earning for them.
